Oliver Heyme – 2024 Future Leader

Oliver Heyme embarked on his tennis journey with Pro Tennis Academy at Mitcham Tennis Club in 2018 when he was just 9 years old. The same year, he began competing at Donvale Tennis Club in the ERT’s Junior Development Green Ball Competition. Six years later, Oliver has climbed the ranks to become a key player in the Rubbers 7 team. A regular participant in Pro Tennis Academy’s Monday squad program, Oliver has recently taken on a coaching role.

In 2024, Oliver was selected for the prestigious Future Leaders Program. As part of the program, he attended a three-day camp at Tennis Australia, where he gained invaluable skills in coaching, administration, committee structure, and computer programs.

Determined to put his new skills to use, Oliver took on the responsibility of organising the 2024 Donvale Junior Club Championships. The event, which spanned two days, saw 30 Donvale junior members compete. Oliver innovatively introduced a JDC round-robin tournament for green ball players, in addition to dividing the participants into A and B grades.

Despite challenges like wet weather and court availability, the tournament was a resounding success. Oliver’s leadership and dedication ensured a memorable experience for all the young participants.
